Professional Biography of Mohammad Ali Poursamadi: From Engineering Studies to Success in Trading
I am Mohammad Ali Poursamadi, born on March 3, 1994, at Firouzabadi Hospital in Shahr-e Rey. In the following text, I intend to share part of the journey I have taken in trading within the financial markets, hoping it can serve as a guiding light for you
2009 | Beginning of the Journey – Studying Electrical Engineering and Initial Involvement in the Iranian Stock Market
Due to the prevailing conditions at that time, when the only perceived path to success was through engineering, I, like many of my peers, chose to pursue Electrical and Electronics Engineering with a specialization in Telecommunications. Alongside my studies, I also followed the Iranian stock market on a superficial level. My perspective on the stock market during that period was more of a beginner’s adventure, as our minds had been filled with the cliché slogan “The stock market: a second job, a primary income.” However, I soon realized that viewing the stock market as a profession was not something to be underestimated.
2011–2012 | Serious Entry into Forex and Initial Challenges
In 2012, I became interested in trading in the Forex market. However, at that time, the public perception of Forex was extremely negative. Not only were people unfamiliar with financial markets, but whenever the word “Forex” was mentioned, they often equated it with “GoldQuest.” At the time, underground Ponzi schemes were widespread, and this was the main reason behind such skepticism. Consequently, it was preferable not to talk about your activities in this market with others.
Years later, in 2019–2020, with the growing popularity of cryptocurrencies, Forex also became more tangible to the public, and today society is more familiar with the work of Forex traders.
During those early years, educational resources in Persian were very limited, and most of the available content consisted of shallow strategies based on moving averages, carrying the label of “strategy” without truly deserving it. Entering this field without reliable and structured resources made the path much more difficult.
This was a period of continuous effort, study, and trial and error. But one thing was clear to me:
If I wanted to succeed in this path, I had to study more deeply than others.
2013 | Switching to ICT and the Beginning of Programming
In 2013, due to discouragement with the field of Electrical Engineering, I decided to change my academic path and entered ICT (Information and Communication Technology). The main reason for this change was my growing interest in computer networks and programming. I wanted to gain a better understanding of the software structures of financial markets and, ultimately, be able to develop automated trading systems (Expert Advisors).
That year, I met Mostafa at university, who was also actively studying and working in this field in parallel. This acquaintance opened a new phase of learning for me, as we consistently tried to help each other grow and advance together.
We experienced both significant profits and inevitable losses, but our emotions at that stage were still amateurish. It became evident that we needed to focus more on controlling our emotions and psychology, as mastering emotions is an essential part of becoming a professional trader.
2016 | Establishing Consistent Profitability in Trading and Beginning Expert Advisor Programming
In this year, my trading profitability became stable, and trading itself was no longer a challenge for me. I had reached a level where I could trade professionally with confidence.
During the same year, together with several friends who were also active in this market, we began working seriously on programming Expert Advisors (EAs). These activities helped us optimize our trading strategies and design both automated and semi-automated trading systems.
In the video below, which is one of my Instagram posts, you can see an example of the results produced by our Expert Advisors on May 22, 2016 — a time when the number of professional Forex traders in Iran was fewer than the fingers on one hand.
Now, after nine years since I first began working on Expert Advisors, I am still actively engaged in their development and improvement. The path of research and development in this field has never stopped, and every day I strive to enhance trading systems and optimize algorithms.
The progress achieved in this area was such that even the title of my bachelor’s thesis in June 2016 became:
“The Role of ICT in Advancing International Financial Markets (Forex)”
2017 | An Unsuccessful Attempt to Migrate to the United States – A Major Challenge
In this year, with the confidence I had gained from trading and achieving consistent profitability, I decided to apply for migration to the United States. I scheduled an appointment at the U.S. Embassy, believing that with a solid financial strategy, I could create a different future for myself.
Ultimately, at the exact time I applied for a visa, my family was granted their visas, but I was not. This coincided with the enforcement of the travel ban on Iranians by Donald Trump.
This experience completely changed my path and led me to focus even more on my personal trading strategies. After returning to Iran, I went through a period of depression, but I quickly realized that I needed to refocus on myself and my trading journey.
Over these years, I have created more than 150 Instagram highlights, including over 10,000 Instagram stories, to allow everyone to learn trading strategies for free, and, if they wish, participate in a comprehensive trading course for more in-depth learning.
2018–2019 | Recording the Best Trading Course and Building a Professional Trading Team
After years of research and self-education since 2010, and considering the circle of Forex friends I had connected with through Instagram and their high demand for a trading course, I decided to organize a trading course in 2018.
However, I soon realized that constant presence in in-person classes prevented me from focusing on my own trading. Additionally, while the number of investors was high, the number of actual traders was limited, which made the training environment fall short of my expectations.
Part of the training included the “New York Close” strategy in 2018, with a strong emphasis on risk and capital management.
For this reason, I decided to record the best possible training course at the time, titled the “Poursamadi Comprehensive Trading Course,” consisting of 90 sessions covering everything from zero to advanced levels.
This course sparked a revolution in trading education in Iran. Many individuals, using the Comprehensive Trading Course, became professional traders in trading rooms across various countries. Additionally, some leveraged the course and the Poursamadi Instagram highlights to become trading instructors in financial markets, which remains one of my greatest achievements in life.
The main goal of the Comprehensive Trading Course is to train professional traders so that I can work alongside their talents and integrate them into my trading team. For this reason, the financial aspect of this project has never been the focus. Since its inception, it has been offered at a fixed price of 3 million Tomans, covering only the costs of course administration and support, to ensure that everyone can benefit from it.
You can find the details of the Poursamadi Comprehensive Forex Trading Course on this page.
My vision in March 2020, shared in the “Vision” Instagram highlight.
At that time, the idea of a professional trading team was considered very ambitious. However, thanks to God, today it has become a common practice within the Persian-speaking trading community, which is a source of great pride for us. ❤️
2020 – Present | Formation of Professional Trading Teams and Discovering Iranian Talent
Since 2020, students I have trained gradually became professional and formed trading teams. This process led me to a new stage in my trading journey, allowing me to gain experience working with professional teams.
From 2018 until today, I have consistently been teaching and identifying talented traders to enable mutually beneficial collaborations. You can find the details of this initiative on the “Trading Capital Grant Call” page.
This process not only helps their growth but also benefits me by having a smart and professional team alongside me, creating sustainable profitability.
Today, trading is for me more than a profession—it is a philosophy of life.
If I were to summarize all my experience in a few sentences:
Trading means practice, practice, and practice of psychological self-control.
Avoid manipulating trade sizes beyond logical limits.
Master a single trading style (for me, Price Action).
I hope my journey and experiences have been inspiring for you.
With respect,
Mohammad Ali Poursamadi
